Spring Cleaning: 10 Spaces to Refresh This Season

There’s something magical about spring. The days get longer, the flowers bloom, and the urge to refresh our homes hits hard. If you're anything like me, you're ready to throw open the windows, let the fresh air in, and give your home a good old-fashioned spring clean.
Not sure where to start? I’ve got you covered. Here's my go-to list of 10 spaces to deep clean this season—plus some extra bonus tasks to really make your space sparkle!

1. The Bathroom
Toss expired makeup and beauty products. Yes, makeup expires! Check the labels for expiration dates or that little symbol that looks like an open jar (that tells you how long it’s good after opening). Out with the old!
Clean showerheads, faucets, and drains. Soak fixtures in a 50/50 vinegar and water solution to clear out calcium and lime build-up. It’s a quick trick that can extend the life of your fixtures.
Pro tip: pour vinegar down the drains to cut through grime and help eliminate funky smells and drain flies.

2. The Kitchen
Deep clean the fridge and freezer. Take everything out, toss expired food, and give it a good wipe-down. Don’t forget the freezer drawers!
Clean/replace filters. Your dishwasher and refrigerator have filters that might need attention. This is the perfect time to check and replace or clean them.
Cabinet purge. Take stock of your dishes, Tupperware, and gadgets. Return or donate anything that’s not yours or hasn’t been used in a year. Less clutter = more space to cook!
3. The Pantry
Declutter and donate. My pantry collects more than just food. Go through canned goods, check expiration dates, and donate anything you're not using.
Reorganize by zones. Create dedicated spaces for baking, snacks, breakfast items, etc. You’ll thank yourself later.

4. The Living Room
Wash throws and pillow covers. Rotate out your winter cozies for lighter spring and summer pieces.
Deep clean the couch. Remove cushions and vacuum every nook and cranny—you never know what treasures (or snacks) you’ll find.
Clean rugs or carpets. A quick shampoo can completely change the feel of your living room.
5. Your Vehicle
Declutter and detail. Whether you're a “garbage mobile” type or super tidy, your car deserves some spring TLC. Clean out the glove box (yes, I once found a sandwich in mine), vacuum floors, and wipe down every surface.
Maintenance check. Replace your windshield wipers, top off fluids, and check tire pressure while you're at it.
6. The Dining Room
Edit drawers and linen storage. Go through tablecloths, cloth napkins, and seasonal decor. Donate what you don’t use.
Clean dining chairs. Wipe down legs and backs, and if they’re upholstered, give them a good scrub or steam.

7. The Laundry Room
Clean the washer filter. This might be the secret to fresher-smelling clothes. (You might be shocked at what’s in there!)
Clear out the dryer vent. Not just the lint trap—get into that vent pipe! It’s crucial for safety and efficiency.
Declutter cabinets. Ditch old cleaning supplies, mismatched socks, and anything that doesn’t belong in the laundry zone.

8. Closets
Edit your wardrobe. If you haven’t worn it in a year, it’s time to donate or sell it. (Yes, even that impulse-buy sweater.)
Rotate seasonal clothes. Pack away winter gear and make room for spring outfits. I love soft storage bags—they fit perfectly above the closet shelf.
9. Outside
Wash the house exterior. We have a white home, so I know the grime builds up fast. A good pressure wash makes it look brand new.
Tidy flower beds. Rake leaves, pull weeds, and prep your beds for new growth.
Check your AC unit. Trim back any plants growing too close, and schedule a service call before the summer heat kicks in.

10. Other Often-Forgotten Tasks
Sliding door tracks. These collect so much gunk—give them a deep scrub.
Wipe down doors and touch up paint. Especially around handles where fingerprints love to hang out.
Pour vinegar down the HVAC condensate line. Keeps your system running smoothly and helps prevent clogs.
Wash or vacuum curtains. And don’t forget those ceiling fans and blinds—they’re dust magnets!
Spring is the perfect time to reset your home and clear out the clutter that’s been quietly building all winter long. Even tackling just a few of these spaces can make your home feel brighter, fresher, and more organized.
