My Momma's Chili

Writer's picture: Kristina DeRobertisKristina DeRobertis

With a little twist from my kitchen...

Growing up, chili was the quintessential winter meal and it still is. When the weather here in Florida begins to chill, I immediately want my mom's chili. So, I present to you her recipe... with a little bit of tweaks on my end :)

INGREDIENTS

2 lbs Ground Beef

2 Cans of Whole, Peeled Tomatoes (blended)

2 Packets of Chili-O

1 Tbsp Garlic Powder

1 Tbsp Onion Powder

1 tsp Chili Powder

2 tsp Creole Seasoning

2 Cans of Red Kidney Beans

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Brown the beef in a pot over medium heat.

  2. Once browned, add in all the spices (chili-o, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and creole seasoning). Mix well.

  3. Add in the blended tomatoes to the pot and stir well.

  4. Then, add in the red kidney beans.

  5. Bring to a boil and simmer on low heat. The longer you cook, the more flavors come out.

  6. Add salt and pepper as needed.

Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
