Homemade Laundry Detergent

If you're looking to save money and find a true clean-and-clear laundry detergent for your family then this is the article you've been searching for!

My husband and son are allergic to so many things. I once was a candle loving, scent boosting, give-me-all-the-floral-scents kind of homemaker... but that all changed for the health of my guys. Moving away from commercial laundry detergents was a big step for us. I began looking at several recipes and had to see what ingredients were the best for our family.

I had some fails along the way. I found out I was using too much OxiClean and my son got a rash from it. I simply reduced the amount and away went the rash. I also wasn't grating my Fels Naptha bar and Dove Sensitive bar fine enough and it clogged my washer. A little hot water and grating the bars more finely prevented this from happening again.

So, with my trial and errors, I present to you my homemade laundry detergent recipe...

INGREDIENTS

3cups 20 Mule Team Borax

1cup OxiClean (any type)

2cups Super Washing Soda (I like the Arm & Hammer Brand)

1 Fels Naptha bar*

1/2 - 1 Dove Sensitive bar soap*

*finely grated... I use a food processor

Check out my Amazon store here for all the ingredients.

Mix all the ingredients together. TIP: If you're making a larger load just double or triple the amounts above. I saw someone said to mix the ingredients in a trash bag... brilliant idea!

Use 2 Tbsp per load or up to 1/4 cup for larger loads. My giant jar will last months!

Let me know if you try this and how you like it!
