Our Dining Room
Updated: Aug 29, 2022
I've always dreamed of having a home straight out of a Southern Living Magazine! There's something about the southern decor that brings me so much peace and joy.
When I started pulling together ideas for our dining room I had this decor style in mind. I explored different color palates and ended up going with primarily greens.
Here's the mood board I created using canva.com.

The wallpaper here I purchased from the Scott Living line (Property Brothers). Ferns are a classic plant found in the south (and a wonderful ground cover, I might add). The green and cream colors flowed perfectly with the room.

The rest of the room came together with the bird plates. I know it may seem crazy but I fell in love with these plates the moment I saw them! I bought them from Dillards. They are a part of the Southern Living Collection (only available in the Spring).

I did not end up painting the board and batten and I used a beige color for my seat cushions instead of the blueish green I noted on my mood board. Nonetheless, the room came together and it's, hands down, my most favorite room in the house:

The table and chairs are from IKEA (very heavy and durable... not cheap looking at all). The two large farmhouse chairs we snagged from our builder. The china cabinet was my grandmother's and the other chest is an antique piece from a family member.
Also, can we talk about the green glass chandelier?? I found one similar on Pottery Barn for $699 (no longer available). The price was way over our budget but my heart was hooked. Just as I was about to make a horrible financial decision I found this beauty on Wayfair for only $179! I consider this an epic win!

We eat here every night and it's a cozy place for our family to gather and play games.
